AMG is a name that is often associated with engineering perfection and performance exhilaration. Specifically, AMG engines, such as the supercharged 5.4 liter V8 found in the E55 AMG, or the 6.0 liter Twin Turbo V12 found in the SL65 AMG producing 367 horsepower 391 ft-lb of torque and 604 horsepower and 738 ft-lb of torque respectively. What about the renowned 7.3 liter V12 AMG-tuned engine used in the Pagani Zonda F? With 641 horsepower it’s only goal in life must be to bite your head off.

I marvel at AMG’s ability to produce such reliable and powerful engines yet wish that I could simply understand how AMG can do it. Thankfully, AMG is also smart enough to figure out that my peanut brain cannot even fathom the engineering ingenuity that goes into making their engines so to educate me and to celebrate their most recent development they released a simple to follow and interesting video about how the naturally aspirated 5.5 liter V8 engine works. The engine is featured in the new SLK 55 AMG, producing 416 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque.
