The Pininfarina P4/5 Competizione Shatters Ferrari's Lap Record On The 'Ring

It is based on a Ferrari 430 GT2, is armed with a 4.0L V8, and weighs less than nothing. It’s James Glickenhaus’ Frankenstein-like creation, the Pininfarina P4/5 Competizione, and while it is without-a-doubt an incredible machine, what’s even more incredible is the recent record-breaking laptime the much-admired P4/5 has accomplished, and on none other than the legendary, one-and-only ‘Green Hell’, known as the Nurburgring.
Busting out a jaw-dropping 6:51 (6 minutes and 51 seconds) during qualifying for the 2012 24 Hours of Nurburgring, and doing so in less than desirable conditions involving challenging weather patterns and slower race traffic, the P4/5 has shattered Ferrari’s own 599XX’s record of 6:58:16. It is important to keep in mind that a Ferrari 599XX has 700hp, and for the Pininfarina P4/5 Competizione to fly past the start/finish line a mesmerizing seven seconds faster, James Glickenhaus’ P4/5 Competizione is practically in an entirely different class. That’s 4 seconds slower than a Pagani Zonda R - and that is something to think about.
